Introduction to Natural Language Processing, session 3 In-Person / Online

This 3-part workshop provides an overview of the natural language processing (NLP) domain and its applications. This last session covers basic concepts about recent trends in NLP techniques, notably context-aware methods. We will also cover potential ethical problems in NLP applications with concrete examples.

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to understand context-aware methods in NLP, gain hands-on experience with a modern NLP method, and identify potential ethical issues in NLP applications.

Prerequisites: Introductory knowledge of programming in Python, using libraries and packages and how to install them. Introductory knowledge of NLP (e.g. from session 1 and 2). You need to bring your own laptop for this workshop. Google colab will be used for coding exercises. Contact us if you would like to attend but it's impossible for you to bring a laptop.

Location: HYBRID. Online via Zoom, or in-person at SH680 room1041 at 680 Sherbrooke Street WestPlease use the escalators to access the elevators that will take you to the 10th floor.
