Design and implementation of Statistical Simulation Studies

Design and implementation of Statistical Simulation Studies In-Person / Online

This workshop will explain the ‘why, when and how’ of statistical simulation studies.  Such studies are useful to aid the study of statistical procedures, and to test their performance on synthetic data.  However, they are also useful in practice for trial design for performing power and sample size calculations when analytical results are not available.

At the end of this workshop you will be able to implement simulation studies in simple problems.

Prerequisites:
   · Basic knowledge of statistics at the undergraduate level, an appreciation of real-world statistical problems, and basic/intermediate knowledge of R.
   · Install R and RStudio on your computer. You can find installation instructions here. Please contact us (cdsi.science@mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation.
   · You need to bring your own laptop for this workshop. Contact us if you would like to attend but it's impossible for you to bring a laptop.
