Introduction to the data science life cycle (in Python) In-Person / Online
Overview:
This workshop presents an overview of the data science life cycle using the programming language Python, and using the environment Jupyter Notebooks. Using a simple data set, the instructor will walk participants through the different steps of the data science life cycle (e.g., manipulation, plotting, communication, code version control), presenting relevant python packages and representative commands for each step.
This tutorial is designed to help the learner prepare for the larger set of CDSI training offerings on the various specific stages of the data science life cycle.
Prerequisites:
- Please note that this is not an Introduction to Python workshop. Participants must already have basic knowledge of programming with Python, and understand how File Systems and Jupyter Notebooks work. We encourage participants to take CDSI's Introduction to Python Summer Camp and Understanding File Systems before signing up to this workshop.
- You need to bring your own laptop for this workshop, and install Anaconda. You can find installation instructions here. Please contact us (cdsi.science@mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation.
Instructor: Kiwon Lee, Faculty Lecturer, Department of Mathematics & Statistics
