Working with Dates, Times and Tables in R In-Person / Online

Overview: 

Ever wanted to work with dates and time in R, but were scared by the POSIXct data type? Ever wondered how to create nice looking tables? This workshop will introduce you to the lubridate package to work with date and time. We will cover working with time points, intervals, periods and durations including leap years, time zones and daylight savings time. With the gt package you will learn how to create awesome looking tables. 

Learning outcomes:

At the end of this workshop you will be able to

- confidently work with time points, intervals and periods

- confidently work with dates

- be able to extract and convert time and dates from text and numbers

- calculate with time and dates with different time zones, daylight savings time and leap years 

- create nice looking tables, also for model output

Prerequisites: A basic understanding of R as gained from the first workshops of our Data Science Life Cycle Series or equivalent.
Location: HYBRID. Online via Zoom, or in-person at Burnside Hall room 1104 (11th floor).
Instructor: Tim Elrick, Faculty Lecturer in the Faculty of Science.
