R Summer Camp In-Person
Scroll down to register.
Disclaimer: Registration for this summer camp is open to all members of the McGill community. However, as capacity is limited, priority will be given to graduate students. All registrants will initially be placed on a waitlist; the confirmation email you receive after registering confirms that you are successfully on the waitlist. Confirmed spots will be allocated based on priority and availability, and participants will be notified of their registration status during the week of June 15.
If the summer camp registration is full, please do not hesitate to register to the waitlist. Participants who register after the week of June 15 will be placed on the waitlist on a first come, first served basis.
Overview
The R summer camp introduces you to R, a common programming language to analyze data used across many disciplines in research and teaching at McGill as well as to Quarto (a typesetting language useful for producing documents combining code, text, images and equations). These very useful and powerful tools for (social) scientific research have a somewhat steep learning curve, even in the advent of AI-assisted tools. This workshop is intended to help you getting you up a good part of that learning curve.
Date: Monday, August 24th to Friday, August 28th, 2026
Time: 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, each day
Location: McGill Downtown Campus
Please note the summer camp will take place in two different rooms:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Education 129
Tuesday: Burnside 1B45
Instructor: Dr. Tim Elrick, Director of the Geographic Information Centre and Co-Director of CDSI's Data Science Solutions Hub (DaS²H), with support from our learning assistants.
